Not too much news. The Annual Meeting is in a few weeks, 10/10. If anyone wants to host, let me know. Otherwise, I can hold it in my front yard. I would offer my back yard, but it is still full of mosquitos.

1 – From the latest ECHO Newsletter:
Here’s a very helpful event that is coming up at the end of September, so, even if this news is mostly about October and later, please publicize it to help ECHO and donors who have documents to shred: ECHO Food Collection and Free Document Shredding, Saturday, September 28, 9:00 am to noon at Burke Presbyterian Church, 5690 Oak Leather Drive.
ECHO’s traditional Fall Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, October 26, at St. Bernadette School, 7600 Old Keene Mill Road, Springfield, from 8:00 am to noon. Bargain shoppers and treasurer hunters will find a gymnasium full of housewares, toys, fashion accessories, jewelry, electronic equipment, picture frames, wall art, and more! The two yard sale events each year are primary sources of funds for ECHO to carry out its mission of helping people in need in our community.
2 - Troop 995 will be holding its fall fundraiser car wash on Saturday, 28 September from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the Saint Bernadette Church parking lot, 7600 Old Keene Mill Road, Springfield. Please help our local scouts raise funds to support their activities.
3 - October 2 is National Coffee with a Cop Day.
Join officers from the West Springfield District Station from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. at Chesapeake Bagel Bakery (5719 Burke Centre Parkway, Burke) for a cup of joe and get to know your local police force.
4 – Many people have renewed for multiple years. If you think you are one of them, feel free to ask when you need to renew. It is a hassle to keep track of multi-year renewals over FIVE YEARS that several members have done by doing consecutive three-year renewals. Please make it easier on me by asking if you are not sure. A helpful hint is to add when you renewed in an online calendar and note how many years you renewed for and what year you will need to renew. You can also add an event for that future date to remind you to renew.
As always, it is $10 to renew. If you are paying online, add a doillar. If you are paying by cash or check, do not add a dollar. You can drop off payments in the box in front of my house (6919 Vancouver Rd) to save a stamp, mail it to:
CAWSV
PO Box 2204
Springfield, VA 22152
If you want to pay online via PayPal, here are the links for renewing:
· Renew for 1 year - $11 (FY25)
· Renew for 2 years - $21 (FY25-26)
· Renew for 3 years - $31 (FY25-27)
I will add an updated renewal form to the website this week. The only difference is that the Fiscal Year will change. If you have an old one, you can reuse it and change 2024 to 2025.
5 – From the Braddock District newsletter:
