The Rolling Road widening project is one that will affect every West Springfield Village resident, not just those who live on Rolling. The linked pages provide background and as much information as John Cooley and the Civic Association board have been able to gather.

Virginia's Department of Transportation (VDOT) plans to widen Rolling Road from Old Keene Mill to Hunter Village Drive.

Their plans call for:

• a. Four lanes of traffic
• b. Left-turning lanes
• c. A raised median
• d. 8’ parking lanes on both sides for curbside parking.
• e. A 5’ sidewalk on the east side of the road all the way to Old Keene Mill Road and an 8’ asphalt trail on the west side, also all the way to Old Keene Mill Road

Hopefully, they will revise those plans based on our input. The design review is now ongoing; the project is scheduled out for bids in 2012 with an expected completion date in 2015.
