Many of us in West Springfield Village have used the services of general contractors to upgrade parts of our homes. We provide the names of contractors not as an endorsement of their services but for informational purposes. Word of mouth advertisements from neighbors are often the best way to find good services. But of course your experience with a contractor may differ.
Washington Checkbook is also a very good place to find the services and products you need.

I hired a contractor to underpin the footer who seems to know his business. He has dug down 15 feet to find firm ground to set the underpin all the way back up to the original footer. It is back breaking hand labor, but they aren't complaining. Nicholas does driveways, patios, foundations and footer repair plas retaining walls. His general estimate for driveways is $6.00 per square foot for new and $10.00 per to replace |

Atlas Roofing 703-644-3047 I used Consumer's Checkbook to narrow my search for local firms with good reputations, solicited bids and ultimately settled on Atlas. They were not the cheapest (although all bids were close) but provided extensive information on options without any "upsell". The only downside was the delay between coming to agreement in Nov 2010 and the actual work in Dec 2010. Good firms stay busy. The crew arrived as promised at 7:30 AM on the appointed day, took only 1/2 hour for a lunch break and was done by 3:00 PM. They replaced several plywood panels and installed the new shingling, then did an exceptional cleanup sweep. We've had no issues with the roof since then. |

As I recall I asked another resident on Wythe Lane for a recommendation because I knew she had some rather substantial roof repair work done. She recommended Cole to me. Lawn Mower Repair "Dr. Sparkplug" Contact info: 10435 Woodbury Knoll Ct., Fairfax, VA 22032 703-239-3659. Chances are his wife will answer the phone. He repaired my fairly new lawnmower in the spring of 2010 after I hit a small stump and sheared off something inside the engine. Quick turnaround, very reasonable price. Small business from his home but judging from the contents of his garage, he is equipped with all the right tools and is apparently quite knowledgeable. |
